Since 2000, World Turtle Day has been celebrated on May 23rd. The goal of the yearly celebration is to bring attention to the endangered world of turtles and tortoises. And most of all, the day’s purpose is to encourage humans to help these beautiful creatures thrive and survive.
As a point of fact, there are over 300 different species of turtles and tortoises around the world. And unfortuntely, over half of these species have a status of either endangered, vulnerable or threatened.
