Matthew Mewhorter was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and had to undergo treatment that included chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. He’s currently cancer free, but wants to share his experience with others. His first comic featured a cute little owl that he named the “Cancer Owl”.
The idea came to fruition while Mewhorter was recovering from his first surgery. To help him, his wife and his child cope, he began creating cartoons that addressed misconceptions about cancer. He says that his cartoons helped him face what he was going through.
Others with cancer began emailing Mewhorter, telling him that his cartoons helped them get through their ordeal. Find out more at cancerowl.com/.
