From the moment he arrived on the scene, Lou Ferrigno was famous for his arms. They were nearly as massive as anything anyone had seen. Yet, for all their size and power, they were extremely chiseled and would become more so throughout the ’70s and ’80s.
This is the core arm workout Lou has used over the years. As you’d expect, over a long bodybuilding career there will always be mild variations and experiments. But here is the core of Lou’s arm routine.
We have to begin with a question…
…what will your arms look like when you’re 65? How did Lou Ferrigno get here?
In His Prime
How did he get to this level when at his peak?
It starts with old fashioned barbell curls. Lou typically does 2 sets of 15-20 reps.
Using Dumbbells For Variety
Don’t be afraid to change things up to give your muscles an unfamiliar ‘hit.’
Incline Dumbbell Curl
Proper form for Incline Dumbbell Curls. Lou does 3-4 sets of 10-8 reps.
Lou Goes For It
Sometimes he pushes for a little extra.
Lou typically racks up 4 sets of 8-10 reps.
Lou’s Turn At Preacher Curls
Demonstrating proper form. Again, Lou’s workout is 4 sets of 8-10 reps.
Lou Works The Machine
Some movements require a machine’s precision.
Seated Palm-Up Barbell Wrist Curl
Lou does 4 sets of 10-15 reps.
Lying Triceps Press
4 sets of 8-10 reps get the job done.
Standing Overhead Barbell Triceps Extension
4 sets of 8-10 reps.
Arms Of Glory
Remember, there is no stopping – even when your arms get this powerful!
